Add custom buttons to the Choice Group and Detailed menu layouts
By default, the Choice Group Items related list on the Choice Group layout and the Menu Items related list on the Detailed Menu layout display the standard New button. As an alternative to this button, the following custom buttons are available in R7 to provide users with greater clarity about the actions they are performing: Add Choice Group Item and Add Menu Item or Choice Group.
The following steps provide instructions on how to replace the standard New button with the custom buttons. This feature requires R7 (version 1.60) or later. To determine the release installed in your org, see Installed Packages.

- Go to Setup > Create > Objects > Choice Group > Page Layouts > Edit Corporate Choice Group Layout.
- Navigate to Choice Group Items related list and click the Properties icon.
The Related List Properties - Choice Group Items page opens.
- Expand the Buttons section of the window.
- Clear the New checkbox.
- In the Available Buttons list, select Add Choice Group Item and click Add.
The button is added to the Selected Buttons list.
- Click OK.
- Click Save at the top of the Corporate Choice Group Layout page.
- Repeat these steps for the Property Choice Group Layout.
- Go to Setup > Create > Objects > Item > Page Layouts > Edit Detailed Menu Corporate Record Layout.
- Navigate to Menu Items related list and click the Properties icon.
The Related List Properties - Menu Items page opens.
- Expand the Buttons section of the window.
- Clear the New checkbox.

In the Available Buttons list, select Add Menu Item or Choice Group and click Add.
The button is added to the Selected Buttons list.
- Click OK.
- Click Save at the top of the Detailed Menu Corporate Record Layout page.
- Repeat these steps for the Detailed Menu Property Record Layout.
