Manage resources
The Resources Editor allows you to manage the resources available through Delphi Diagramming. You can:
- Create a new version of a resource (for example, a round table or exhibit booth with a specific size and description) and it will be available for placement in room setups (resource symbol scales to your dimensions).
- Modify a resource's dimensions, color, and description, and indicate when it's an inventory item (meaning the resource is available on-site as opposed to being outsourced). This information displays in the Resource Descriptions pane and inventory report in Property Edition.
- Set the default resource in a resource category. For example, if the covered banquet chair is used for most events, you can set that as the default. When you add a banquet chair to a room diagram, the default covered variation will be automatically used. You can always select a different type of banquet chair using the resource’s Settings window. The default resource you select applies only to Design Mode with the exception of your default setup which applies to both Design Mode and Automatic Layout. Automatic mode has all of its room defaults set during the room enhancement process.
- Deactivate a resource to prevent it from being used.
- Delete a resource from the resources list. Room diagrams where the resource has already been placed will continue to show the resource.
- Control user access to the Resources Editor through Manage Users.
- Do one of the following:
- From the Delphi Diagramming Home page, click the Settings in the upper-right corner of the page and then click Manage Resources.
- From the Content Management Home page, click Editors and Options, and then the Access Resources Editor link.
- If you have access to multiple properties, select the one to work with by clicking the drop-down arrow next to the property name at the top of the page.
- In the pane on the left, click the resource category (for example, Tables) and then click the resource type (for example, Round).
All resources of the selected type are shown.
- Click Create New and do the following:
- Select the Default check box next to the resource if that will be the default in Design Mode. For example, if you have both covered and uncovered banquet chairs, you can set the covered variation to be the default when a banquet chair is added to a room diagram. Users can always select a different type using the resource’s Settings window.
- Select Inventory Item to indicate it is an on-site resource. If the resource is outsourced, clear the check box.
- Enter its Description.
- Enter the Width, Length, and Height in the units shown. To change your unit of measurement, see My Profile.
- To make a resource stand out, you can apply a default color, and choose a Fill Pattern . Planners will be able to change resource colors in their diagrams but you can disable this by clicking Lock/Unlock color .

Click on the Edit 3D new button. This will open in a new window.
Transitioning to new 3D?If your property customized 3D elements for any of your resources prior to July 2023, these configurations will not automatically apply to new 3D. You are able to interact with your existing 3D settings for a limited time, giving you the ability to review and take note of your current customization. Use the information you capture to update your new 3D resources.
- Click 3D Preview to review Elements within the customized resource
- If you do not have a copy of the custom texture file on hand, click on the Texture drop down, right click on the texture, and select Save As.
- You may then continue to customize by clicking on the Edit 3D new button and following the steps outlined below.
- Select the resource to edit from the Default style drop-down list and do the following:
- To view the resource, click and drag the 3D model or zoom in and out.
- Click the color for each element to edit it.
- Click the texture for each element and do any of the following:
- Select an existing texture.
- Upload a new texture.
- Delete a texture.
- To save your changes, click Save . To cancel your changes, click Cancel .
- Within a row, click Edit and modify the following:
- Select the Default check box next to the resource that should be used as the default type in Design Mode. For example, if you have both covered and uncovered banquet chairs, you can set the covered variation to be the default when a banquet chair is added to a room plan. Users can always select a different type using the resource's Settings window.
- Select the Inventory Item check box next to each object that is an on-site resource. If the object is outsourced, clear the check box.
- Enter its Description.
- Enter the Width, Length, and Height in the units shown. To choose your unit of measurement, see My Profile.
- Select the Color, Fill Pattern, and select Lock/Unlock color to prevent or allow the change of a resource color when users create room plans. Click Reset Colors to change all resources, in that category, back to their original default colors and lock selection.

You cannot delete a resource that is set as the Default resource for that resource category. Change the default to another resource and try again.
You cannot delete all of the resources from a resource category. At least one resource is required.
- Click Delete Resource to confirm the deletion. The resource is no longer available for selection for new room plans but remains in existing room plans.

All resources of the selected type are shown.
- Select the resource and click Deactivate.
The resource will dim for the admin user and not appear for the standard user. This does not remove the resource from past diagrams.
Some resources cannot be deactivated, such as core tables and chairs.
- Click Activate to return the resource to the library and make it available for immediate use.
If you want to upload custom files for use with 3D textures, there are a few good things to know. The image repeats in tiles when viewing the room so it can be a little tricky to get it right.
- The smaller your file is in kilobytes, the faster it will upload and render. However, don’t sacrifice image quality. A file that’s 200 to 500 KB is probably perfect.
- Typical dimensions for texture files are 512 pixels by 512 pixels.
- For resources, manufacturers may have free texture files available. These types of texture files are known as tiling, seamless, or seamless tiling.
