Overview: Account sharing
When your Salesforce org was created, your company determined how they wanted the security of accounts and contacts to work. Sometimes accounts are automatically shared with all users across properties (called public read/write). This means that anyone can view, edit, and report on any account that has been entered.
Other companies want to handle sharing differently and make accounts private instead of public. When an account is private, only the account owner can view, edit, and report on it unless it is shared with users at other properties using one of the following methods.
Important! If you'd like to change your account security model, please contact Amadeus Support before modifying these settings in your org.
Sharing method | Action required | Action performed by |
Share accounts with all properties in the org | Select the Visible to All Properties check box on the Account page. | Account owner A workflow may also be configured by a Corporate Administrator that automatically selects this check box when a new account is created. |
Share accounts with designated properties | In the Account Properties related list on the Account page, click the Grant Property Access button. | Property Administrator |
Share accounts with the account owner's default property | On the Enable Property-Level Security page (under Amadeus Settings), select the Automatically Assign Default Property on Account check box. Account owner should have a default property; otherwise, the org's default property is grant access to the account. |

Your access to an account is determined by the way it was shared with your property.
- If the account was shared via the Grant Property Access button, your access level at the property determines what you can do with the account. All users assigned to the property can view and report on the account; however, you must have Edit All Records permissions to edit the account details.
- If the account was shared via the Visible to All Properties check box, all users will have edit access to the account regardless of their property access level.
These settings apply only to properties using Delphi. If you have Delphi Select properties in your org and their accounts are automatically set to public read/write. Learn more.
