Delete tasks

With the Salesforce Lightning experience, the Open Activities and Activity History sections of a record are combined into one Activity timeline. With this change, Open Activities is now called Upcoming & Overdue, and Activity History displays by date. The steps below might vary based on the experience you are using.

You can delete a completed task from the Activity History section of a record. Only delete a task if it serves no further purpose. After a task is deleted, no record of it remains, and it does not display in reports. If your intention is to mark a task as closed, refer to Close tasks for more details.

You can only delete one task at a time, and it must be assigned to you.

To delete a task from a record

  1. Open the record associated with the task.
  2. In the Activity History section, click Delete next to the task.
  3. Confirm the deletion.
