Create guestroom types
The content of this page is specific to the Delphi product type only. If you are using the Delphi Core product type and want to learn more about the Delphi product type, contact your sales representative.
The information in this topic applies to guestroom creation with version R39 and lower. If you are using version R40 or higher, refer to Create guestroom types.
Before users can begin blocking guestrooms for bookings, all guestroom types that exist at the property need to be created. To ensure the Daily Information section of the Availability page reflects accurate availability, guestroom inventory needs to be entered for each room type.
The Run of House (ROH) room type is provided by default, and is always number 1 in the sort order. ROH represents the total number of all guestrooms at a property. This room type is where you enter revenue management details including transient protected, budgeted rate, and minimum acceptable rates. To enter those details, see Edit guestroom types.
Guestroom types are defined at the property level and can only be retired, not deleted.
To create a guestroom type
- In the Guestroom Types section of the Property page, click New Guestroom Type. The New Guestroom Type page displays.
- Complete the following fields on this page as needed:
Field Description
Name Enter the guestroom name to display in customer-facing documents. Room Type Code Enter the room type code that matches your front office system. Sort Order Enter the display order of the guestroom type on the Availability page and in Room Block windows. Default Quantity Enter the total inventory of this guestroom type when none of the rooms are out of order. Max Occupants Enter the maximum number of people that can stay in the room. For example, rooms with two beds might have a maximum occupancy of 4, and rooms with one bed might have a maximum occupancy of 2. Number of Beds Enter the total number of beds in the guestroom. For example, a King with a pull-out sofa has 2 beds. The required fields display a red indicator. These fields need to be complete before you can save the record.
- Click Save.
- Use the Daily Guestroom Values section of the Guestroom Type page to enter the inventory for this room type. This information is used to calculate guestroom availability. The room type inventory displays in the Daily Information section of the Availability page and in Room Block windows.
