Create guestroom types
The information in this topic applies to the functionality in R39 and below. If you are using R40 and above, refer to Create guestroom types.
Before users can begin blocking guestrooms for bookings, you need to create each of the guestroom types that exist at the property.
The Run of House (ROH) room type is provided by default, so you don't need to create it. ROH represents the sum total of all guestroom types at a property. For the ROH type, you'll need to enter the number of transient protected rooms, as well as its rack rate, budgeted rate, and MAR (minimum acceptable rate). The transient protected and MAR values are displayed in the Daily Information. See Edit guestroom types.
Once the guestroom type is created, you need to enter its inventory during a specified time period. This ensures that the Daily Information section of the Availability page reflects accurate availability.
Guestroom types are defined at the property level.
To create a guestroom type
- In the Guestroom Types section of the Property page, click New Guestroom Type.
The New Guestroom Type page opens.
- Complete the following fields on this page, as needed:
Name Examples include Deluxe King, Non-Smoking Queen, and One Bedroom Suite. Room Type Code Enter the room type code to match your front office system. Sort Order Enter the order in which the guestroom type should appear on the Availability page and in Room Block windows (1 indicates the guestroom type should appear first, 2 indicates the type should appear second, and so on). Default Quantity Enter the total number of guestrooms of that type. Max Occupants Enter the maximum number of guests allowed. Number of Beds Enter the number of beds allowed.
The required fields are displayed with a red indicator. These fields must be completed before you can save the record.
- Click Save.
- Use the Daily Guestroom Values section of the Guestroom Type page to enter the inventory for this room type. This information will be used to calculate current guestroom availability as future room blocks are created for bookings. The room type inventory is displayed in the Daily Information section of the Availability page and in Room Block windows.
