Create guestroom types
The information in this topic applies to the functionality in R40 and above. If you are using R39 and below, refer to Create guestroom types.
Before users can begin blocking guestrooms for bookings, you need to create each of the guestroom types that exist at the property.
To create a guestroom type
- In the Guestroom Types section of the Property page, click New Guestroom Type.
The Add Guestrooms page opens.
- Tab through the fields at the top of the page and enter the following information for each guestroom type you're adding to the system. As you add room types to the grid, they are in draft status, giving you the opportunity to tweak your entry, adjust the sort order, or correct typing mistakes.
- When you're done, click Save.
| Room Type Name | This displays in the documents that you send to your customers. |
| Room Type Code | The room type code that matches your front office system. For properties with an External Availability or PMS integration, it's crucial that the room type codes match between the systems. |
| Total Rooms | The total inventory of this guestroom type (if none of the rooms are out of order). Must match PMS if integrated. |
| Max Occupancy | The maximum number of people that can stay in the room. For example, a room with two double beds might have a maximum occupancy of 4, while a King would have a maximum occupancy of 2. |
| Number of Beds | The total number of beds in the guestroom. For example, a King with a pull-out sofa would have 2 beds. |
A few things to keep in mind
As you enter the individual guestroom types, the total rooms are displayed at the top of the grid to help you double-check your accuracy.
The Run of House (ROH) room type is provided by default, and will always be number one in the sort order. ROH represents the sum total of all guestroom types at a property, and is where you'll enter revenue management details like transient protected, budgeted rate, and minimum acceptable rates. When you save, we automatically add five years of inventory (we call it guestroom type days) to populate the Availability page. So wait patiently for the spinner while the magic happens behind the scenes.
