Overview: Menus and items
The following types of menus and items can be created in Setup:
- Item - Sold individually (on consumption) or as part of a detailed menu (menu item or choice group item).
- Simple menu - Does not include any choice groups or items sold on consumption. A simple menu is detailed using the Rich Description field.
- Detailed menu - Typically includes choice groups and/or items sold on consumption. A detailed menu is built by grouping individual items together.
- Host or cash bar menu - Consists solely of items sold on consumption.
- Text item - Used to add notes and instructions to BEOs.
Menus and items can be created at the corporate or property level. Because corporate values do not display on the Property page, however, you should manage all your menus and items (both corporate and property) using the Items Home page.
Some booking events may require a menu or item that has not been defined by an administrator. The Create New button in the Manage Menus and Items page allows users to create custom menus and items on the fly. Choice groups, however, can only be created by an administrator.
