Apply admin and gratuity to discounts
By default, admin and gratuity charges are calculated using the base price of a menu or item. Some properties, however, might want to apply those charges to the discount price instead. In that case, you can use the Apply Admin & Gratuity to Discount feature at the revenue classification, event, or the menu and item level.
This feature is available with version R25 and higher.
Revenue classification
An administrator can select the Apply Admin & Gratuity to Discount Price checkbox for each applicable revenue classification, both corporate and property. When you add a menu or item to an event and enter a discount, the system refers to the revenue classification settings. Admin and gratuity charges are then applied to the discount or base price. To change how these charges are calculated for individual items, use the Apply Admin & Gratuity to Discount Price checkbox in the Editing Item Details window.
Event
Some properties always calculate admin and gratuity charges using the base price, except for in-house groups. In this situation, you can use this feature on an event-by-event basis rather than setting defaults at the revenue classification level. Select the Apply Admin & Gratuity to Discount Price checkbox in the Edit Multiple Events window, Booking Events grid, or the Booking Event page. All menus and items associated with the event then calculate admin and gratuity charges using the discount price. Unlike revenue classifications, you cannot override this option on the individual menu or item. Selecting the checkbox on the event overrides the settings for all menus and items associated with the event.
Menu and item
When Apply Admin & Gratuity to Discount Price is not selected on the event, you can manage these charges at the menu and item level. This is done using the checkbox in the Editing Item Details window. Whether you apply admin and gratuity charges to the discount or base price, the banquet check is updated with your selection. No changes to the template are required and your reports also show accurate catering revenue.
