Overview: Packages setup
A package is a collection of services that are sold for a flat daily rate on a per person basis. Your property may offer a variety of corporate and social event packages, such as a Day Meeting Package, Half-Day Meeting Package, Complete Meeting Package (includes overnight accommodations), Wedding Package, Weekend Getaway Package, and so on. A package can include events, guestrooms, and/or other items that generate income for your property (for example, transportation fees, golf, spa, and ski tickets).
Here are two examples of simple packages and the services that might be included with each:

In the Day Meeting Package, all events occur on the same day. In the Complete Meeting Package, guestrooms are also included in the package. Both packages include a round of golf, which is tracked as other income at the property.
When you create a package, you assign the default events, guestrooms (types and rate), and other income items that will be available to users when they add the package to a booking. Users can choose to add all the defaults, or they can customize the package by selecting only those services the group has requested. They can also add multiple packages to a single booking.
Before you begin building your packages, here are some things to consider:
| Revenue classifications | Similar to menus, package events are assigned a revenue breakdown. Each allocation you specify within that breakdown is associated with a revenue classification. For example, a dinner on your Complete Meeting Package might have a revenue breakdown of 25.00 to Food and 10.00 to Beverage. The event's revenue breakdown is used rather than the menu and item pricing information to calculate the package revenue and taxes. For events that include function room rental in their revenue breakdown, you should enter the rental as a per person amount and assign it the Function Room Rental revenue classification. |
| Event classifications | You may want to create package-specific event classifications that include menus and items. Those menus and items will be automatically added to the package events on a booking, and the Included in Package check box will be selected by default. This is a significant time-saver for users. If they need a different menu or item, they can always change the defaults, but they will need to manually select Included in Package for each new menu or item that is added to the event. |
| Function room rental |
Function room rental should be entered as a per person amount on the package event revenue breakdown. For example, the revenue breakdown for a meeting might allocate 10.00 per person to Function Room Rental. To ensure that room rental revenue is calculated accurately on your packages, do not enter a default rental rate on the Function Room page. |
| Taxes | Taxes are displayed on the booking check, which is like the banquet check but for the entire booking. Packages that include guestrooms need to have a guestroom tax added to the applicable tax group. |
| Guestrooms | Each package can offer multiple rooms types; however, they should all be assigned the same rate for each occupancy level (S/D/T/Q). For example, the rates for your Standard Double Double and Deluxe Double Double rooms might be entered as follows: 200/250/300/350. The per person guestroom rate is calculated when the package room block is created. |
You must be a Corporate or Property Administrator to build a package in Setup. The following are the basic steps you'll need to follow:
- Enter the package template details.
- Add default events to the template.
- Enter the revenue breakdown for each package event.
- Add the default guestroom and rate information that should be used to create a room block (if applicable).
- Add other income items to the package (if applicable).
- Review the per person package pricing.
